My 30 day fitness challenge RESULTS!! - Okay, okay, I know, it’s not an 8 pack, like I lead some to believe😉 But hey, there is some real definition going on here!! - In 30 days I worked and fed my body what it needed to get stronger and thrive. In 30 days I lost 5 pounds, and 2.5 inches off my waist. - To be honest, it was hard... but not in the way you may think! Sure, there was a couple of days that I didn’t want to workout or eat healthy, but what seemed to challenge me the most was my own shelf-doubt. - That nasty little voice in the back of my head would try to make me believe that: I CAN’T do hard things. I WON’T change. I CAN’T discipline myself. I WON’T have the time. - But I decided to ignore that voice, to just go for it and to BELIEVE IN MYSELF! - Now I know that: I CAN do hard things. I WILL change. I CAN discipline myself. I WILL have the time. - The moment you decide to take a chance on yourself and believe in what you CAN do, you will see results! DAY 5 of Movement Challenge #organicstrength ⠀ PISTOL TOES | Lower body strength progression. *Warm up first* HEELED PISTOL TOES 4x15x From standing cross one leg behind you and sit on your heel, when you have the balance, lift your other foot and become a PISTOL ON TOES squat. Repeat other leg. If you have trouble finding your balance, it is fine, you can keep your foot touching the floor with the big toe. CRUSTY SQUATS 4x6x The crusty squats are a good preparation to progress to a dragon squat/ cross legged squat. From standing cross one leg behind you and touch the floor with your knee, come up to standing and repeat the other leg. Do this for 6 and repeat 3 more times. Rest of you need to but not to long. TWISTED CRUSTY 4x6x This variation is fun and will challenge you to be more aware of your body mobility, flexibility and strength. The big MISTAKE I made when I first started tracking macros was this: . The all out...#IIFYM approach 🤦🏻‍♀️ . For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about...#IIFYM stands for “If it fits your macros.” . The premise behind macros tracking is to hit your targeted guidelines of each macronutrient to be sure to get the adequate energy it needs suited for your metabolism and goals. . At the end of the day I would be sitting at my kitchen island looking at my macros tracking app to see what I needed for the rest of the day. I was so dead set on hitting those targets within a few grams that often times I would pop a few beers or eat ice cream (most of the times I was not craving, not in the mood and just straight out not hungry) . I was turning to fun foods, easy to prepare, just to puzzle piece into my macros which ultimately stalled my progress (thanks Honey Nut Cheerios). . I forgot about the 80/20 rule which suggests that 80% of your food comes from Whole Foods and 20% from fun foods (pretty sure my ratios were the opposite 🤦🏻‍♀️) . When taking the steps to lose weight, focus on eating a good amount of whole nutrient-dense foods. After that you can look to calories and macros. . Focusing on health instead of weight loss will get you to you goals much faster! . Word to the wise: don’t drink 3 IPAs and justify them with #iifym 🍺 Only drink them if you feel like you deserve it (and you truly want it)...and try to shoot for just one if you can 😝. . XOXO . When coaching clients, I can typically tell their level of current happiness based on how microscopically they are looking at a situation. The deeper they dig in, the more they focus on future fear. 👀 - Now I work pretty exclusively with highly successful individuals, so they will NEVER call it fear. Instead, they refer to it as STRESS. - Yet the magic happens when we are able to pull back from the stress and into an eagle eye view of the big picture. The #beyourbestin6 challenge has come to an end and despite about 3 weeks of insomnia/holidays/newpuppy, I am quite impressed with my results. I came to @laurensimpsonfitness to learn a new lifestyle as my previous diets were just that, diets that had a finite time and wouldn't be sustainable in the long run. Lauren and her programs have taught me to love the gym again, that I don't have to go every day to get good results, that sticking to good foods that are tasty and nutritious 90% of the time still means I can have cake on occasion and not ruin my progress.
